Only the technology has changed

"Life before Starbucks and Microsoft" is a coffee maker??
This is part of an exhibit I saw after going on the Seattle Underground Tour. I took this picture because I found the sign above the coffee maker interesting. Yeah, of course, many of us know Seattle is the home of the very first Starbucks Coffee and Microsoft Corp. But I also found it amazing how they placed a coffee maker right below this sign. So, after all, it’s still coffee before Starbucks?
I took a closer look at the description of the coffee maker (which I found from one of my other photos):
In selecting machines for this exhibition a decision was made to use the most interesting styles as opposed to presenting chronological "history of coffee and espresso" equipment. All the pieces on exhibit were created and used before Microsoft and Starbucks began operating.
Most of the equipment shown here, while still operable, is out of production. The processes used in making coffee and espresso are pretty much unchanged, however water, heat, pressure and coffee beans are still the basic ingredients. Only the technology has changed.

The Chinese Character for Tiredness
May 5th, 2008
So I was here tonight, trying to get some work done (hey, I do need to finish a business case for tomorrow), and listening to some tunes. Then I started scribbling random lyrics that got to my heart.
The above character means tiredness in Chinese. I was playing with my strokes and then it became the left one in the below picture. I stared at it for a second, and I thought…. hey… then it became the right hand side one.
I guess I’m really tired.

I don’t know if this was exactly super high score, but I beat everyone at home!
I laugh, learn, and reflect, therefore I am.

(stealing the Apple iTunes U tag line “I learn, therefore I am.” a little bit…)
Yesterday, I wrote on twitter: “… eight days in a roll” instead of “… eight days in a row.”
In the past, I also miss-pronounced trackpad as “trackback” or “backpack”. Can you imagine the number of variations there could be?
- trackpad
- trackback
- backtrack
- backpack
- backtrack
- trackpack
- …
- and more
velkr0 often picks on me (well, and corrects me). And we would laugh about it. Then I think I learn from our laughters. And next time, when I need to say these words, I will take a deep breath and give it a second thought before I actually move my lips. (Hey, but I can’t guarantee it works all the time!)
But then.. I guess it’s important to be open to criticism, and even being able to laugh over my own mistakes.
So, I laugh, learn, and reflect, therefore I am.
If only forgetting were this easy for me.
